The solution
Smart Data partnered with InnoMark’s product owner and SQA team. A small team executed the build: one Smart Data .NET developer and one Angular and UI/UX developer, alongside InnoMark’s product owner and software QA engineer.
Key implementation highlights
- Multi-tenant data model keeping each retail customer’s products, users, order history and pricing isolated within a single codebase
- Direct integration with EFI PrintStream for live inventory reads and order writes against the existing ERP and CRM, with no shadow database
- Angular front end designed around how retail marketing teams actually shop for signage: by store, by campaign, by product type
- .NET Core service layer orchestrating multi-tenant access and ERP integration
- Progressive web architecture delivering desktop, tablet and mobile experiences from a single codebase
- Modern, attractive storefront UI closer to a B2B ecommerce experience than a back-office order form
- No parallel data, no sync drift between the platform and EFI PrintStream
The pattern is common across mid-market manufacturing and distribution: an existing ERP or CRM system handles the core business reliably, but the customer-facing experience is missing or stuck in legacy tooling. The right move is rarely to replace the back-end. It’s to build a modern, multi-tenant front end that integrates cleanly through APIs.
The results
Once the platform shipped, four things changed for InnoMark and its retail customers:
Self-service multi-tenant access replaced the manual phone-and-email ordering workflow
Each retail customer got their own inventory, order history and user list from a single shared codebase
Clean EFI PrintStream integration kept the platform free of parallel data and sync drift
A scalable customer-facing channel landed without disrupting the ERP and CRM systems already running the business
A small two-developer Smart Data team plus a focused InnoMark counterpart shipped a multi-tenant retail platform in 6-8 months. The architecture pattern of building a modern multi-tenant front end on top of an existing ERP backend is repeatable across mid-market manufacturing and distribution.
