Managed services

# Managed services that keep your systems running

We support the systems your business runs on, legacy ones included: applications, data pipelines and the backend processes between them. Monitoring, fixes and enhancements run on a monthly plan, with response times set by priority from P1 to P4.

Compare the models

## How the four models compare

When each one fits, who owns the work, how involved your team is and how it is billed.

What it is

Our team manages some or all aspects of your platform for you.

When to choose it

You want someone else to support and maintain an application or platform.

Your involvement

Lower. You set priorities and service levels; Smart Data handles monitoring, support and updates.

Project ownership

Smart Data. We own the deliverables, you review the outcomes.

Billing model

Usually a monthly contract, set by the systems covered and the response times.

Best for

Application or platform maintenance and other managed service needs.

A discrete set of work that Smart Data manages and delivers from beginning to end.

You have a specific project that you want estimated and executed by a partner.

Lower. You set the goals and review milestones; Smart Data plans, builds and delivers.

Time and materials or fixed bid. Both options come with up-front pricing.

Defined programs: modernization, migrations, new platforms.

Smart Data developers join your internal team for a period of time.

You need to supplement your team with specific skills for a period of time.

High. You manage the project, we provide expert talent.

You. Our people follow your lead.

Monthly contract.

Addressing temporary gaps, scaling quickly, avoiding hiring delays.

Smart Data sources individuals for you to hire permanently.

You're adding permanent IT staff and want help finding the right people.

You interview the pre-screened candidates we present.

Shared. We source and screen candidates; you interview and make the call.

A one-time placement fee, or a monthly contract during contract-to-hire.

Permanent hires screened before you meet them.

How support works

## From an issue to a fix, by priority

Every agreement sets first-response and resolution times for each level.

Step 1

### Try it internally

Your team checks the issue first and notes what it tried.

Step 2

### Email us

Write to support@smartdata.net with the issue and what your team already tried.

Step 3

### We respond

We work on it remotely, through the access your team provides.

Step 4

### Resolved

The issue is closed, with time tracked in 30-minute increments.

P1

Critical. A main feature of the application does not work

P2

Major. A feature does not work, but only for a small set of users or without blocking primary business functions

P3

Moderate. Limited impact: the system works but needs attention

P4

Minor or planned. Requested extensions and nice-to-have fixes

Support packages

## Four ways to buy support

The same team and the same priority levels, paid for the way that fits how often you need it. Pricing comes with your proposal.

### Ad hoc

Pay as you go

- No upfront commitment
- Questions and minor issues
- Billed only in the months you use it

Best for: Occasional questions after a project wraps

### Prepaid hours

A bank of hours that does not expire

- Hours never expire
- Add more blocks as you need them
- Major, moderate and minor or planned issues

Best for: Steady, low-volume needs

### Professional

Monthly hours with full coverage

- Full coverage, including critical P1 issues
- Unused hours roll over
- Overage billed at the package rate

Best for: Teams that need full coverage and a fast critical response

### Offshore

The most hours for the budget

- All priority levels covered
- Delivered from the Smart Data Global Center
- Hours reset each month

Best for: High-volume support at the lowest cost

Taking over a system

## For the systems we built and the ones we didn’t

Most managed work starts with software someone else wrote. The handover runs in three steps.

### Knowledge transfer

We learn the system from the people who run it today: the jobs, the feeds, the workarounds and the history behind them.

### Run alongside

Our team works incidents next to yours until the access, the patterns and the documentation are in place.

### Take over

Monitoring, incidents and enhancements move to us, with documentation your team keeps.

Case studies

## Managed services in practice

### Managed services for the payments-to-ERP integrations behind Nuvei’s platform

Nuvei’s clients get a dedicated managed services team at the payments-to-ERP integration layer, covering Sage 100, Sage Intacct and more ERPs on the roadmap.

A few practical questions

## Questions about managed services

Yes. Most of our managed work started that way, from a custom ERP and customer portal taken over from a client’s own IT team to data feeds taken over through knowledge transfer from the people who ran them.

Support runs on US business hours, and the Smart Data Global Center in Hyderabad can extend coverage for critical issues that arrive overnight.

Monitoring, fixes, updates and enhancements for applications, data pipelines and the backend processes between them, within the hours your package includes.

Small overages are billed at your package rate. Larger enhancements are scoped as a separate statement of work.

In 30-minute increments, with a one-hour minimum per incident or request. You name the people on your team who can raise requests.

The platforms, how they are supported today and where the gaps are.

### A short call about your systems

What runs today, who supports it and what good support looks like.

### An engineer looks at what’s running

Scope comes from your systems as they are, before anything is priced.

### You get a written proposal

Covering scope, team, approach and price.
