Timeline

5 Months

An EV charging start-up needed its charger and fleet data in one place, a dashboard for its customers and support workflows for its own team. With limited internal resources and competing priorities, they turned to Smart Data to deliver data integration, warehousing, reporting and customer-facing tools that could evolve with their business. Smart Data stepped in to deliver serverless data pipelines, a Snowflake data warehouse, a secure customer dashboard and Jira support workflows.

## The challenge

The client needed to:

- Unify data across multiple platforms (Synop, Geotab, Ampcontrol)
- Build a performant, fault-tolerant cloud data architecture
- Provide customers with a secure, self-service dashboard
- Establish internal workflows in Jira Service Management
- Recruit and onboard a full-time Data Warehouse Architect

They needed a partner who could guide technical strategy, provide hands-on execution and adapt to evolving priorities.

## The solution

Smart Data supported the client across architecture, development and staffing. Our delivery included:

- Serverless Data Pipelines: Built on AWS using Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, S3, SQS and API Gateway
- Snowflake Data Warehouse: Implemented a Snowflake data warehouse modeled with Data Vault principles
- Customer dashboard: the first version, built with React and Next.js and secured with Auth0, later rebuilt as a multi-tenant app, backed by Snowflake for live data
- JIRA Setup: Worked side-by-side with internal teams to configure JSM workflows and reporting
- Recruiting Support: Helped hire and integrate an in-house data warehouse architect

## The results

Synop, Geotab and Ampcontrol data unified through serverless pipelines on AWS

One Snowflake warehouse, modeled with Data Vault, behind the client’s business reporting

Secure customer dashboard with self-config tools and rich data visualization

Integrated support system in Jira Service Management
